Hi There,
My first order from the new catalogue just had to be the Chalk Talk Stamp Set and Matching Framelits – I was dying to try the ever so popular Chalkboard Technique. The first card I designed was for our stamp club on Friday night which is really just a fancy way of saying my friends and I get together to chat, eat and stamp 🙂 This is the card we made last Friday:
My colour combo is the new in colour Coastal Cabana, Basic Black and Whisper White. Here is a closer look at the “Chalkboard effect:
My stamp is from Chalk Talk and it is perfectly cut out with the matching framelit. I’ve chosen a textured black card stock and used versa mark and white embossing powder to create this cracked chalky effect. I’ve also sponged the edges with Whisper White Craft Ink. My dry embossed background is created using Co’redinations card stock and sanding the embossed sections back to their white core – cute!
On Saturday night my boys and I had a quiet few hours of stamping together and I worked on this design:
A little less ribbon and a little more chalking in this design! The larger image and the small heart are both from the same Chalk Talk stamp set. I didn’t ink the black edges with white, just opting for a cleaner look. The main colour here is Strawberry Slush (another new in colour). A closer look:
Isn’t the heart gorgeous? I love it’s sketched look.
And here is another colour combo using Pistachio Pudding (yet another new in colour!)
Switching to the Argyll embossing folder gave this a really different look and a suede feel to it after sanding. And close up:
I hope my designs have inspired you to try this chalkboard technique – have fun!
