Handmade Cards

Christmas in October!

I had a great time at my friend’s place on Sunday arvo watching the girls put together the first bunch of Christmas Cards for the season… The Workshop had a slightly different format to my normal, I offered 5 designs of cards to make – let’s call it a Christmas Card buffet. Here are some of the designs on offer:

Aren’t these Christmas Owls kinda cute? I’ve added their Santa hats using the Level 3 Hostess Set Playful Pieces.  The sentiment is from Perfect Punches. The DSP is Jolly Holiday.

This was my traditional offering – the ornaments are first stamped from Contempo Christmas and then punched with the coordinating Ornament Punch. The Cherry Cobbler embossed back ground has been sponged with Early Espresso.  The sentiment is the same as above but used in it’s entirety.  The colour theme is Old Olive, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler.

My elegant offering! Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  The Medallion from Artistic Etchings is versamarked, crumb caked and clear embossed to make the repeat background.  The Two Step Bird punch creates the focal point and in this case the Junior Timeless Alphas and Bigshot create the “Joy” sentiment.

What you probably can’t see in the photos is that  the bird is sponged with Champagne Mist shimmer paint as is the background around the medallion. Can you see it shimmering here?

This dasher card was definitely a favourite – quick and impactful! The colour scheme is Rich Razz, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.  I have to try and show you how my dasher is shimmering:

I have mixed a few drops of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and Rich Razz re-inker, and applied directly to the stamp with a sponge dauber.  The effect is fantastic – you’ve got to try it! I’ve added an extra bit of sparkle with a rhinestone highlight in one of the snowflakes. The embossing folder in the background is elegant lines and the sentiment is stamped from Contempo Christmas.
